Alexandra
Solmssen Crossing the Line 1995 - 2006
Alexandra crosses the blurred line between
photography and painting. Photography alone is too static and
painting alone is less real. Alexandra’s bigger than
life silver gelatin nudes are washed and painted until they reveal
a greater truth. “The process of making them is wild and gestural. They
seem huge from the start. I feel as though these women deserve
to loom, to be grand and exalt in their size and form.”
